CytomX Therapeutics Inc. (NASDAQ: CTMX) appointed Rachael Lester as senior vice president and chief business officer, the company announced. Lester will oversee strategy and business development functions at the South San Francisco-based biopharmaceutical company.

Lester brings over 20 years of experience in corporate strategy and business development across the life sciences industry. She most recently served as chief business officer at Replicate Bioscience, where she led corporate strategy, business development and capital formation activities.

Prior to Replicate, Lester was senior vice president of business development and corporate strategy at Harpoon Therapeutics, which Merck later acquired. At Harpoon, she established business development strategy and secured partnerships with AbbVie and Roche.

Lester previously held senior positions at Bruin Biometrics and Onyx Pharmaceuticals, now an Amgen subsidiary. Earlier in her career, she worked in the life sciences consulting practices at Deloitte and Booz Allen Hamilton, advising on mergers and acquisitions transactions and strategic growth initiatives.

"Rachael's expertise and leadership in delivering strategic, value-enhancing partnerships will be pivotal as we continue to prosecute our integrated business model," said Sean McCarthy, president, chief executive officer and chairman of CytomX.

Lester holds an MBA from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management and a bachelor's degree in neuroscience from the University of Pennsylvania.

CytomX develops conditionally activated biologics designed for the tumor microenvironment. The company's clinical pipeline includes CX-2051, an antibody-drug conjugate targeting epithelial cell adhesion molecule, and CX-801, a masked interferon alpha-2b cytokine.
