Cue Biopharma names new CFO, files IND for CUE-221

Cue Biopharma, Inc. (Nasdaq: CUE) has appointed James M. Ahlers as Chief Financial Officer, according to a company statement. Ahlers will report to President and Chief Executive Officer Shao-Lee Lin, M.D., Ph.D.
The company also disclosed a recent Investigational New Drug (IND) submission to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for CUE-221, its candidate targeting food allergy. Cue Biopharma said it anticipates a Phase 2 data readout for its chronic spontaneous urticaria program by the end of the current quarter.
Ahlers brings more than 25 years of financial experience across public and private biotechnology companies. He previously served for nearly two decades as CFO of Intarcia Therapeutics. Most recently, he worked as a consulting CFO and strategic advisor to several emerging biotech companies, including Intensity Therapeutics, RenovoRx, Arsenal Biosciences, and RegCell. Earlier in his career, he held senior finance roles at Titan Pharmaceuticals and Ansan Pharmaceuticals and began his career at Deloitte & Touche. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of San Francisco.
"James brings outstanding financial leadership, deep public company expertise, and operational discipline," Lin said in the statement.
In connection with his appointment, Cue Biopharma's Compensation Committee approved inducement equity awards consisting of a non-qualified stock option to purchase 51,000 shares of common stock and 25,500 restricted stock units. The option carries an exercise price of $30.40, equal to the closing price of the company's common stock on the Nasdaq Capital Market on July 30, 2026. Both awards vest over four years, subject to continued employment.
