ClearPoint Neuro names Dr. Paul Larson as chief medical officer

ClearPoint Neuro Inc. (NASDAQ: CLPT) announced that Dr. Paul Larson will join the company as Chief Medical Officer starting in January 2026. The appointment was disclosed in a company statement.



Dr. Larson has previously served as an advisor to the medical device company, supporting education and product development efforts related to cell and gene therapy delivery. He will maintain his appointments at the University of California San Francisco and Banner Hospital, University of Arizona, where he will continue enrolling patients in cell and gene therapy clinical trials.



According to the company, Dr. Larson has performed or overseen more than 100 cell and gene therapy clinical procedures. ClearPoint Neuro develops navigation systems for precise drug delivery to the brain and spine.



"This is a very exciting time for the field of neurosurgery as multiple new cell and gene therapy treatments are quickly progressing under the FDA expedited review process," Dr. Larson said in the statement.



The company's flagship product, the ClearPoint Neuro Navigation System, has FDA clearance and CE marking. ClearPoint Neuro operates with healthcare and research centers across North America, Europe, Asia, and South America.



The Solana Beach, California-based company partners with pharmaceutical and biotech companies, academic centers, and contract research organizations for central nervous system therapeutic delivery in preclinical studies and clinical trials. The company reports having more than 60 partners and supporting thousands of procedures through its clinical specialist team.
