Citizens Financial Group names Aunoy Banerjee as chief financial officer

Citizens Financial Group Inc. (NYSE: CFG) announced the appointment of Aunoy Banerjee as executive vice president and chief financial officer, effective October 24.



Banerjee joins Citizens from Barclays, where he serves as CFO of Barclays Bank PLC. He will serve on the company's executive committee and report to Chairman and CEO Bruce Van Saun.



Current CFO John Woods will depart the bank on August 15. Chris Emerson, executive vice president and head of corporate planning and enterprise finance, will serve as interim CFO.



At Citizens, Banerjee will oversee financial planning and analysis, business line finance groups, controller, investor relations, treasury, tax, and capital management functions, as well as property and procurement.



Banerjee brings 25 years of financial services experience. At Barclays Bank PLC, he oversaw a £1.1 trillion balance sheet and co-led the firm's investment bank simplification initiative. Prior to Barclays, he spent eight years at State Street in various finance and transformation roles, including head of investments and third party management and chief transformation officer. He previously worked at Citi for 11 years in roles including business unit CFO for capital markets and securities services.



He began his career at General Electric as part of its finance management leadership program. Banerjee holds an MBA from the University of Rochester Simon School of Business and a bachelor's degree from St. Stephen's College at the University of Delhi.



Citizens Financial Group reported $218.3 billion in assets as of June 30, 2025, according to the company's press release.
