BlackBerry names John Wall as president of QNX division

BlackBerry Limited (NYSE: BB) (TSX: BB) appointed John Wall as president of its QNX division, effective immediately, according to a company statement. Wall will report to BlackBerry CEO John J. Giamatteo.

Wall joined QNX in 1993 and has held positions in product engineering, service delivery, and sales. He most recently served as the division's chief operating officer and has overseen the planning, design, and development of QNX's product portfolio. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree from Carleton University.

"John's experience and strong reputation in the industry position him uniquely to help drive the QNX business forward," said Giamatteo in the statement.

Wall replaces Mattias Eriksson, who decided to pursue opportunities outside BlackBerry. Eriksson will remain as an advisor to the company until December 31 to facilitate the transition.

QNX provides embedded software for automotive and industrial applications. The division recently launched its SDP 8.0 operating system and expanded into industrial automation and robotics markets.

BlackBerry, based in Waterloo, Ontario, develops software for enterprises and governments, focusing on secure communications and foundational software for automotive and industrial applications.
