Beam Therapeutics Inc. (Nasdaq: BEAM) has appointed Eric Foster as chief commercial officer, the Cambridge, Mass.-based biotechnology company announced.
Foster brings more than 25 years of commercial experience in biotechnology and specialty pharmaceuticals. He most recently served as chief commercial officer at Ardelyx. Before that, he was senior vice president and U.S. general manager at Amgen, a role he assumed following Amgen's acquisition of Horizon Therapeutics in October 2023.
At Horizon, Foster served as senior vice president and general manager of the gout and ophthalmology business units, overseeing franchises that generated $2.75 billion in net sales revenue. From 2010 to 2021, he held roles of increasing responsibility in sales and marketing at GlaxoSmithKline across immunology and rare disease products. He began his career at Johnson & Johnson in sales and market access.
Foster holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Georgia and a Master of Business Administration from Auburn University.
In his new role, Foster will lead Beam's commercial organization as the company advances product candidates in its hematology and genetic disease franchises. Beam has indicated a potential launch of its product candidate risto-cel in 2027.
"As we prepare for the potential launch of risto-cel in 2027, Eric's experience building strong teams and culture, defining and executing clear commercial strategies, and leading through growth will be invaluable," said John Evans, chief executive officer of Beam Therapeutics.
