Beacon Financial names Sean Gray as CEO, Paul Perrault retires

Beacon Financial Corporation (NYSE: BBT) announced that its board of directors unanimously appointed Sean A. Gray as Chief Executive Officer, effective September 21, 2026. Gray succeeds Paul A. Perrault, who retired from the role after a career spanning more than five decades in banking.

Gray, who also joins the boards of Beacon Financial and its subsidiary Beacon Bank, most recently served as Chief Operating Officer of the company, where he oversaw enterprise operations and the systems integration following the merger of Brookline Bancorp and Berkshire Hills Bancorp that created Beacon Financial Corporation. Prior to that, he served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Berkshire Bank from November 2018 through 2025, and as Senior Executive Vice President of Berkshire Hills Bancorp from 2015 through 2025. He also held the role of interim CEO from August 2020 through January 2021.

Gray holds a Master of Business Administration from Duke University's Fuqua School of Business and a Bachelor of Science from Bentley University.

Perrault will remain with the company in a consulting capacity for one year to support the transition. The succession process was conducted by the Corporate Governance and Nominating Committee of the Board with assistance from Caldwell Partners.

"Sean is an established leader with broad operating expertise, deep institutional knowledge and proven relationships with our colleagues, clients, shareholders and communities," said David M. Brunelle, Chairperson of the Board of Directors.

Beacon Financial is headquartered in Boston and reported $22.3 billion in assets, with more than 145 branches across New England and New York, according to the company's press release.
