B&G Foods, Inc. (NYSE: BGS) has appointed Robert "Rob" D. Mills as President and Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately, according to a company statement. Mills succeeds Casey Keller, who retired from the role and from the board.
Mills has served on B&G Foods' Board of Directors since March 2018. He joins the executive team from Tractor Supply Company (NASDAQ: TSCO), where he held senior leadership roles since 2014, most recently as Executive Vice President, Chief Technology Officer, Digital and Pet Services. In that role, he oversaw technology strategy, digital operations, M&A, and the company's veterinary, pet pharmacy, and Petsense retail businesses.
Prior to Tractor Supply, Mills held senior positions at Ulta Beauty Inc. and Sears Holding Corp. He has more than 20 years of operating and leadership experience, with a background in corporate strategy, M&A, and business development.
Stephen C. Sherrill, Chair of the B&G Foods Board, said in the statement, "Rob is uniquely positioned to lead B&G Foods at this important point in B&G Foods' evolution."
Mills said his immediate priorities will include "execution, operating discipline and accelerating growth," and noted his intention to apply digital, data, technology, and artificial intelligence capabilities to the business.
B&G Foods, based in Parsippany, New Jersey, manufactures and distributes shelf-stable and frozen food products across the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico under more than 50 brands, including Crisco, Cream of Wheat, Ortega, and Spice Islands.
