Abitibi Metals names David Bernier as chief operating officer
Abitibi Metals Corp. (CSE: AMQ) (OTCQB: AMQFF) (FSE: FW0) announced the appointment of David Bernier as chief operating officer, effective immediately.
Bernier brings over 30 years of mining industry experience across Canada. He most recently served as chief operating officer of Foran Mining Corporation, where he led the advancement of the McIlvenna Bay polymetallic deposit from feasibility through detailed engineering and into construction.
Prior to Foran, Bernier served as Canadian country manager for Pan American Silver, overseeing multiple operating assets in the Timmins region. He previously held senior site leadership roles at the Bell Creek Complex and served as general manager of Dumas Contracting, providing mine development services to companies including Alamos Gold, Glencore, Vale, and Newmont.
"Dave Bernier brings the mine-building experience and operational discipline needed to convert a scarce, high-grade critical minerals asset into long-term value," said Jonathon Deluce, chief executive officer of Abitibi Metals.
Bernier commented that his focus will be on strengthening the technical, operational, and project foundations to advance the company's B26 asset toward development and financing.
The company granted 400,000 stock options to certain officers, exercisable at $0.55 per common share for five years.
Abitibi Metals' flagship B26 polymetallic project in Quebec contains indicated resources of 11.3 million tonnes at 2.13% copper equivalent and inferred resources of 7.2 million tonnes at 2.21% copper equivalent. The project is located five kilometers north of the formerly producing Selbaie mine.
