Organigram Global Inc. (TSX: OGI) (NASDAQ: OGI) announced the appointment of James Yamanaka as chief executive officer, effective January 15, 2026. Yamanaka previously served as Global Head of Strategy at British American Tobacco.

Yamanaka spent more than 20 years at British American Tobacco, holding various strategy and management positions across Europe and Asia. As Area Director for North Asia, he oversaw operations in Japan and South Korea. He also led the transformation of BAT's Northern Europe operations, including the acquisition of a nicotine pouch business.

"James' history of driving strong international growth aligns perfectly with Organigram's global aspirations," Amirault said in a statement.

Yamanaka holds degrees from UC San Diego, Georgetown University, and London Business School. He will be based in Toronto and must complete required procedures including immigration matters before assuming the role.

The company describes itself as a Canadian cannabis producer. Yamanaka will also join the company's board of directors when he becomes CEO.
