Xi Jinping and Trump hold phone call Wednesday
Investing.com -- Chinese President Xi Jinping and U.S. President Donald Trump held a phone conversation on Wednesday, according to state media Xinhua News Agency.
The call took place just hours after Xi spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin, though Xinhua did not provide details about the content of either discussion.
The two leaders are expected to meet four times this year, with a potential summit occurring as early as April.
Relations between the world's two largest economies have stabilized in recent months but Trump's recent actions in Venezuela and Iran, countries allied with China, may test this arrangement. The U.S. president has also criticized Canada for making trade agreements with Beijing, and kept developing alternative sources of rare earth minerals to reduce dependence on Chinese supplies.
