Investing.com -- Brazilian financial platform XP Inc is considering obtaining a banking license in the United States as part of its expansion plans, Chief Executive Officer Thiago Maffra said Monday.
The company is exploring multiple options to enter the US banking sector, including applying for a new banking license or purchasing an existing financial institution, Maffra told journalists during an earnings call.
The CEO described the move into US banking as a logical next phase for the company's operations. XP has not yet made a final decision on which path to pursue, though Maffra indicated the company is nearing a conclusion on the matter.
