Investing.com -- Qualcomm (NASDAQ: QCOM) stock rose 2.7% Monday after the company unveiled a next-generation robotics architecture and new high-performance processor aimed at advanced robots and humanoids.
The chipmaker introduced its comprehensive-stack robotics architecture that integrates hardware, software, and compound AI, along with the Qualcomm Dragonwing IQ10 Series processor designed for industrial autonomous mobile robots and full-size humanoids. The announcement comes as robotics and artificial intelligence remain areas of high investor interest.
Qualcomm’s new architecture builds on the company’s expertise in edge AI and energy-efficient computing systems, with the goal of transforming prototype robots into deployable, intelligent machines for real-world applications. The technology is designed to enable robots to reason, adapt, and make decisions across various environments.
"As pioneers in energy efficient, high-performance Physical AI systems, we know what it takes to make even the most complex robotics systems perform reliably, safely, and at scale," said Nakul Duggal, EVP and Group General Manager at Qualcomm Technologies.
The company is building a comprehensive ecosystem for its robotics platforms, collaborating with companies including Advantech, Figure, Kuka Robotics, and VinMotion to bring deployment-ready robotics to scale. Figure, which is developing general-purpose humanoid robots, is working with Qualcomm to define the next generation of compute architecture.
Qualcomm’s robotics architecture supports advanced perception and motion planning with end-to-end AI models, enabling generalized manipulation capabilities and human-robot interaction. The company is showcasing several humanoid robots powered by its technology at the CES trade show in Las Vegas.
