UN nuclear watchdog urges Iran to share info on enriched uranium
Investing.com -- The International Atomic Energy Agency issued a report to member states today calling on Iran to immediately provide information about its enriched uranium following military strikes on its atomic sites in June 2025.
The confidential report stated that the IAEA Director General emphasized to Iran that implementing the Non-Proliferation Treaty Safeguards Agreement is indispensable and urgent, and that Iran cannot suspend its implementation under any circumstances.
The IAEA has not received information from Iran about the status of its declared nuclear material or facilities, according to the report. The agency has had no access to any of those facilities to conduct verification activities, except for Bushehr.
The report showed that IAEA estimates of Iran's enriched uranium stocks through June 13, 2025 remain unchanged from previous reports. The agency sent two quarterly reports on Iran to member states.
The IAEA stated it cannot verify the status of Iranian facilities and associated nuclear material for safeguards purposes. The agency expressed concerns about the possible presence of undeclared nuclear material and activities in Iran, citing the country's continued unwillingness to address unresolved safeguards issues.
The report noted that the IAEA's loss of continuity of knowledge over all previously declared nuclear material at facilities affected by the June 2025 military strikes needs to be addressed with urgent priority.
The agency's lack of access to verify previously declared enriched uranium stocks for nearly a year is a matter of proliferation concern, according to the report.
