Trump to speak at rescheduled correspondents' dinner in July

Investing.com -- President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that he accepted an invitation to speak at the rescheduled White House Correspondents' Association dinner on July 24.

The dinner was originally held on April 25, 2026, but was interrupted when a shooter fired gunshots at the event. The shooter allegedly intended to target multiple Trump administration officials before being stopped by Secret Service.

Trump announced his participation in a post on Truth Social. "In a sign of Strength and Fortitude, it was just announced that The White House Correspondents' Dinner, which violently ended rather abruptly on April 25th, will be rescheduled to July 24th," he wrote.

The president said the rescheduled event shows that "we cannot allow Lunatics to change our way of life, or even its scheduling."

Weijia Jiang, president of the White House Correspondents' Association, invited Trump to attend and speak at the event.

"I don't know whether or not I will give the same rather nasty statements, at least as it concerns certain people, but we will soon find out," Trump wrote. "In any event, it will be a 'HOT' ticket!"

The rescheduled dinner will take place at the Waldorf Astoria on Pennsylvania Avenue. Trump noted in his post that he built the building and ballroom.
