Trump to discuss Greenland acquisition with NATO's Rutte

Investing.com -- U.S. President Donald Trump said Wednesday he would discuss Greenland with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte during their meeting at the World Economic Forum.

Trump renewed his call to acquire the Danish territory earlier at the forum before meeting with Rutte.

"I hope that it's true that NATO would defend U.S.," Trump said regarding Greenland. He added that "NATO wants security for all."

The U.S. President also mentioned he "could see price that could be reasonable" for Greenland.

In response to Trump's comments, NATO Secretary General Rutte assured, "Your allies will be with you."

While Trump acknowledged Rutte's statement as "nice," he maintained that the "U.S. still needs Greenland."
