Investing.com -- President Trump announced a 25% tariff on countries conducting business with Iran, while simultaneously considering military action against the Iranian regime.

"Effective immediately, any Country doing business with the Islamic Republic of Iran will pay a Tariff of 25% on any and all business being done with the United States of America. This Order is final and conclusive. Thank you for your attention to this matter!" Trump wrote.

The tariff announcement comes as the President is weighing military strikes against Iran in response to the killing of protesters, according to Axios, which cited a White House official with direct knowledge of the situation.

While Trump is inclined to authorize a strike to punish the Iranian regime, he has not yet made a final decision, the official told Axios on Monday.

The administration is also exploring potential diplomatic solutions, as Iranian officials have proposed negotiations, according to the same source.
