Trump administration "fine-tuning" beef price executive orders
Investing.com -- The Trump administration is working to finalize potential presidential executive orders designed to reduce domestic beef prices, a White House official told Reuters on Tuesday. The actions, which were anticipated to be signed on Monday, have been delayed as officials continue to adjust the measures.
The administration is considering executive actions that would permit increased beef imports into the United States and provide additional government support to help ranchers rebuild the American cattle herd. The domestic cattle herd has declined to its lowest level in 75 years.
"The president is committed to lowering beef and other grocery costs for everyday Americans, and the administration is accordingly fine-tuning potential executive actions to alleviate temporary shortages in the domestic beef market," the White House official said in an emailed statement
