Investing.com -- President Donald Trump’s nominee for the Federal Reserve Board, Stephen Miran, has committed to upholding the central bank’s dual mandate and maintaining its independence.

In testimony published Wednesday on the Senate Banking Committee’s website, Miran stated he would "dutifully" execute the Fed’s responsibilities of ensuring price stability and full employment for the American economy.

"My opinions and decisions will be based on my analysis of the macroeconomy and what’s best for its long-term stewardship," Miran wrote in his prepared remarks ahead of his Senate confirmation hearing scheduled for Thursday.

Miran, who currently serves as a White House economic adviser, emphasized the importance of the Federal Open Market Committee’s autonomy, describing it as "an independent group with a monumental task." He added that he intends to "preserve that independence and serve the American people to the best of my ability."
