Trump: NATO making "a very foolish mistake" in Iran
Investing.com -- President Donald Trump on Tuesday criticized NATO for its reluctance to assist the United States in unblocking the Strait of Hormuz, while simultaneously stating that Washington does not require help.
Trump said NATO was making "a very foolish mistake" regarding the situation with Iran and the strategic waterway. The Strait of Hormuz is a crucial maritime chokepoint through which a significant portion of global oil shipments pass.
Despite his criticism of the alliance, Trump said the U.S. does not need any help escorting ships through the Strait of Hormuz.
The president also highlighted support from regional allies, stating there was "great support" from Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain on the Iran issue.
