Transportation chief seeks $30 billion for air control upgrades

Investing.com -- Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy requested Tuesday that Congress authorize an additional $30 billion in funding for air traffic control towers, software systems, and airport facilities.

The funding request includes $10 billion designated for airport improvements, marking an increase from Duffy's previous proposals. Congress approved $12.5 billion for related infrastructure projects in 2025, but the secretary has continued to push for additional appropriations.

The requested funds would be allocated toward modernizing air traffic control infrastructure and expanding airport capacity across the United States.
