Investing.com -- Tesla gained market share in France and Norway in February, according to official data, signaling stabilization in Europe following two consecutive years of declining sales.
In France, the automaker's registrations, which serve as a proxy for sales, rose 55% compared to a year ago, even as most competitors sold fewer vehicles during the same period.
Registrations increased 32% in Norway but fell 18% in Denmark. These countries were the first to publish February data, with other markets including Italy and Spain expected to report throughout Monday.
Tesla experienced a 27% drop in European sales last year amid intensifying competition, particularly from Chinese electric vehicle brands, controversy surrounding Elon Musk's political activities, and an aging model lineup.
The company unveiled cheaper versions of its Model Y and Model 3 in the United States and Europe last year, which began reaching consumers in late 2025.
Tesla's market share in the European Union, Britain and the European Free Trade Association declined only slightly to 0.8% in January from 1% in the same month in 2025.
However, this remains well below its 1.8% market share in 2025, 2.5% in 2024 and 2.9% in 2023, when its Model Y SUV was the world's best-selling model.
