Tanker reports explosion off Oman coast, crew safe

Investing.com -- A tanker experienced an external explosion on its port side near the waterline approximately 60 nautical miles from Muscat, Oman's capital, according to the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations on Tuesday.

The vessel and crew remained safe following the incident, UKMTO reported. The tanker's master indicated that some bunker fuel was released into the sea as a result of the explosion, which occurred close to the waterline on the port side aft of the vessel.

UKMTO received the initial report of the incident earlier on Tuesday.
