Supreme Court issues no ruling on Trump’s tariffs
Investing.com -- The U.S. Supreme Court released three decisions on Wednesday but did not rule on the closely watched case regarding President Donald Trump’s global tariff policies.
The court has not announced when it will next issue rulings, nor does it typically reveal in advance which cases will be decided on specific dates.
The tariffs case represents a significant test of presidential authority and the court’s willingness to place limits on executive power since Trump returned to office in January 2025. The outcome is expected to have substantial implications for the global economy.
During oral arguments held on November 5, both conservative and liberal justices appeared skeptical about the legality of the tariffs, which Trump imposed by invoking a 1977 law intended for national emergencies.
Trump’s administration is currently appealing lower court rulings that determined he exceeded his authority when implementing tariffs that affected nearly every foreign trading partner.
