Investing.com -- Spotify has secured a new multiyear licensing and ad-sales deal with Joe Rogan worth an estimated $250 million, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal. The agreement cements the streaming giant’s grip on the world’s most-listened-to podcast.

With 300 million premium subscribers, Spotify remains the primary publicly traded beneficiary of the partnership. Rogan’s show drives what the company calls a measurable "halo effect," pulling listeners toward guests’ music, audiobooks, and other podcasts hosted on the platform. This cross-pollination directly supports both subscription retention and advertising revenue.

"The Joe Rogan Experience" reached approximately 28.4 million Americans in Q2 2026, up sharply from 6.6 million at the start of 2020, according to Edison Research. The show has ranked No. 1 on Edison’s most-listened-to podcast list in the U.S. since tracking began in 2019, counting more than 18 million followers on Spotify and over 21 million on YouTube.

The Wall Street Journal notes that the new deal carries terms similar to Rogan’s previous contract, allowing for broad distribution across platforms with an estimated earnout of $250 million. While Spotify has not officially confirmed the dollar figure or disclosed the precise contract length beyond "multiyear," the Journal reports that Rogan and his team will retain full editorial control.

"The partnership with Spotify has been an amazing fit, and they’re incredible to work with," Rogan said, as quoted by the Journal. "I’m extremely happy and excited to continue with them for years to come."

Jordan Newman, Spotify’s head of content partnerships, echoed the sentiment to the WSJ: "Joe has built something incredibly enduring, and his show continues to resonate with a massive global audience because there’s simply nothing else like it."

Spotify first signed Rogan in 2020 in a $100 million-plus exclusivity deal that helped ignite its broader podcast business. In early 2024, the company renewed the agreement and opened distribution to YouTube and other platforms. The show’s audience grew throughout this transition, defying an industry pattern where other platform-exclusive shows lost listeners after being walled off.

The renewal reinforces Spotify’s podcast advertising position at a critical moment, as rivals including Apple Podcasts and Amazon Music compete aggressively for premium content.
