Russia accuses US of deep involvement in Ukrainian strikes

Investing.com -- Russia has accused the United States of significant involvement in Ukrainian attacks on Russian territory and has formally raised the matter with Washington, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Friday.

Lavrov stated that the alleged American support includes intelligence data provision. Russia has sent multiple questions to the State Department seeking clarification about intelligence sharing and what Moscow describes as U.S. participation in organizing strikes on civilian targets inside Russia, he told state television.

Peace negotiations on Ukraine have not occurred since February, when the U.S. entered into war with Iran and ceased its mediation efforts between Moscow and Kyiv.

The foreign minister referenced a summit between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump one year ago, quoting Putin as saying: "Donald, you sent us proposals, and I've given them some thought. There are matters that require compromise. But I accept your proposals in the form you sent them to me."

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has rejected claims that any agreement was reached during that summit, stating that if an agreement had been made, the conflict would have ended.

Lavrov said Putin remains willing to meet with Trump's envoys on Ukraine if they visit Russia again, adding "The question is what they will be bringing with them."

The foreign minister also said Russia plans to strengthen its efforts to destroy Western military supplies reaching Ukraine. "We will make our methods much tougher in order to dismantle everything that fuels Kyiv's war machine from the West. And we are already doing this," Lavrov said.
