Russia's Lavrov discusses Strait of Hormuz with Iran's Araghchi

Investing.com -- Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov spoke with Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Thursday about navigation safety in the Strait of Hormuz, according to a statement from Russia's foreign ministry.

Iran initiated the phone call, the ministry said.

The two ministers exchanged views on United Nations Security Council discussions regarding navigation safety in the Strait of Hormuz and other consequences of what the ministry described as unprovoked aggression by the United States and Israel against Iran.

The conversation also covered broader Middle East issues, according to Russian news agencies.
