Powell to successor: stay out of elected politics

Investing.com -- Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell advised his future successor to avoid political entanglements during Wednesday's press conference.

"Stay out of elected politics, don't get pulled into elected politics. Don't do it," Powell stated firmly.

He emphasized that the Fed's accountability comes through Congress, describing these interactions as "an affirmative regular obligation" rather than a burden. "If you want democratic legitimacy, you earn it by your interactions with our elected overseers," Powell added
