Investing.com -- Plaid Inc. is exploring an initial public offering after securing an $8 billion valuation in a funding round earlier this year, Bloomberg reported Wednesday.

The San Francisco-based technology company has reportedly held preliminary discussions with banks about a potential IPO. No final decisions have been made, and deliberations remain ongoing.

Plaid, founded in 2013, operates a network that enables fintech applications to connect to customer accounts. The company is known for helping consumers connect their data across financial institutions.

The firm raised $575 million in April 2025 at a $6.1 billion valuation. That figure was lower than the $13.4 billion valuation Plaid received in 2021 during a period of elevated fintech valuations.

Plaid recently partnered with OpenAI to provide consumers using ChatGPT with personalized financial advice based on data they share with the technology companies.
