Pakistan's K2 Airways cargo 737 loses contact after system failure

Investing.com -- A K2 Airways cargo aircraft carrying five crew members lost contact with air traffic control on Tuesday night after reporting a navigational system problem during a flight from Sharjah to Karachi, according to Pakistan aviation authorities.

The Boeing 737 cargo plane reported the navigational system issue at 2118 PST while traveling to Karachi. Radar contact and communication were lost approximately 155 nautical miles west of Karachi, the Pakistan Airports Authority said.

Before losing contact, the aircraft was observed on radar rapidly descending and with rapid heading change, the authority stated.

Pakistan aviation authorities launched a search and rescue operation at sea through various agencies to locate the missing aircraft.
