Nokia Corp. shares rose 3.9% in morning trading Thursday following the announcement of an expanded partnership with Microsoft Corp.
The Finnish telecommunications equipment maker said it will combine its Nokia Data Suite with Microsoft Fabric to create a unified data foundation designed to deliver network insights to telecom operators in minutes instead of weeks. The initial applications include autonomous 5G voice assurance, RAN optimization, and predictive maintenance.
The announcement follows several developments earlier this week. Nokia disclosed that it is conducting AI-RAN trials with eight major global telecom operators across North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and the Middle East. The technology showed spectral-efficiency improvements exceeding 20%.
Nokia board member Timo Ihamuotila purchased 60,000 shares of the company this week. Multiple analysts maintain Buy-equivalent ratings on the stock, with price targets between $15 and $21.
Nokia will be added to the Euro STOXX 50 index on Sept. 21, which may result in purchases from passive index funds that track the benchmark.
