Investing.com -- Nokia Defense and NestAI are advancing their technology partnership with the first operational capabilities now in development following Nokia's and Tesi's €100 million joint investment in NestAI announced in November 2025.

The partnership is creating three integrated operational capabilities. The first combines Nokia's deployable 5G networks with NestOS, NestAI's adaptive operating system for battlefield operations, to help European forces maintain command and control while supporting autonomous systems. The second integrates Nokia's radio-network planning models into NestOS mission-planning tools to enable forces to assess and adapt connectivity during operations. The third merges Nokia's Integrated Sensing and Communications early-detection capability with NestAI's multi-sensor tracking to provide wide-area threat awareness in contested environments.

The capabilities are designed for operations involving denied communications, active electronic attack and drone threats. Both companies stated the technologies are built to NATO operational requirements using European-developed systems.

"Defense is moving quickly to adopt AI-enabled capabilities, from mission planning to unmanned operations. But AI only works in the field when it has secure, resilient connectivity behind it," said Mikko Hautala, Chief Geopolitical & Government Relations Officer and Chairman, Nokia Defense.

Peter Sarlin, Founder and Executive Chairman of NestAI, said the partnership addresses real conditions European forces face "from the network underneath to the threats at the edge, on technology that Europe develops and controls."
