Nasdaq CEO says global firms remain focused on U.S. markets
Investing.com -- Global companies continue to focus on American markets due to the returns they generate from the US, according to Nasdaq Inc. Chief Executive Officer Adena Friedman.
"The investment firms are obligated to find the best returns," Friedman said Wednesday during a Bloomberg Television interview at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
Friedman noted that foreign investors have increased equity flows into the US by $3 trillion over the past year. "We just have to continue to drive those outsize returns within our economy to continue the flows coming in," she added.
As CEO, Friedman has guided Nasdaq’s expansion beyond its core business as an exchange operator to ensure continued growth even during downturns in its markets-based operations.
Friedman emphasized the attractiveness of US public markets, stating, "In terms of companies looking to go public, the US markets are the deepest and most liquid markets. They have the deepest investor bases, people understand — especially for innovative tech companies."
