Investing.com -- Meta Platforms (NASDAQ: META) has appointed Connor Hayes as the head of Threads, according to Axios, marking a key development for the two-year-old social media platform.
Hayes, a longtime Meta executive, will take over leadership of the microblogging service that competes with X and other similar platforms. Instagram head Adam Mosseri had been overseeing Threads since its launch, but the app's growth has created the need for dedicated leadership.
The appointment represents an important step in Meta's commitment to developing Threads as a standalone product within its family of apps.
