Lumentum Holdings Inc. shares rose 5.4% in morning trading on Monday after the company presented a joint demonstration with Qualcomm Inc. and Corning Inc. at the 2026 European Conference on Optical Communications in Málaga, Spain.
The demonstration featured a high-density die-to-die optical interconnect system designed for AI scale-up architectures. The board-level system combines Lumentum's VCSEL-based optical interconnect platform with Qualcomm's die-to-die interface IP subsystem and Corning's multimode fiber connectivity.
The announcement follows recent analyst coverage from Deutsche Bank and Evercore ISI, which initiated coverage of Lumentum with bullish ratings and high price targets. Both firms pointed to the company's III-V laser technology as a component that cannot be replaced across multiple optical networking architectures.
Lumentum's President of Global Business Units sold 1,500 shares on Monday under a pre-scheduled Rule 10b5-1 trading plan. The executive retains more than 100,000 shares in the company.
