Lockheed Martin wins MDA missile defense simulation contract

Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) has been awarded a contract by the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) to develop, modernize, and sustain the agency's Modeling & Simulation Objective Simulation Framework, a virtual testing environment for the U.S. missile defense system.

The program, called M&S Vistas Framework, will move the missile defense test environment to the cloud and expand the MDA's engineering capacity, according to a company statement. The contract value was not disclosed.

The framework will be developed in partnership with MDA's Directorate of Engineering and is intended to integrate design, implementation, and testing functions for layered homeland missile defense capabilities.

"Missile defense in today's threat landscape presents an integration challenge across a vast ecosystem," said Erika Marshall, vice president of Enterprise Mission Command and Control at Lockheed Martin. "M&S Vistas Framework will deliver software-driven innovation and a transformative testing environment that will efficiently deliver capabilities to our operators, reducing risk and ensuring America and its allies are ready for the threats of tomorrow."
