Libya's Sharara oilfield cuts output by 200,000 bpd

Investing.com -- Libya's Sharara oilfield reduced production by around 200,000 barrels per day, National Oil Corporation Chair Massoud Suleman said on Monday. The official did not provide a reason for the decrease.

Two engineers working at the field reported that current production stands between 100,000 and 105,000 barrels per day.

Sharara ranks among Libya's largest oilfields with a production capacity of approximately 300,000 barrels per day. The field has experienced frequent disruptions in recent years due to protests, political disputes and technical issues.

Libya's oil production has encountered repeated shutdowns for political and technical reasons since the 2011 uprising that removed Muammar Gaddafi from power.

Last week, production at several other Libyan fields stopped after members of the Petroleum Facilities Guard shut a valve on a key crude pipeline. Suleman stated at that time that Sharara was operating normally.
