Investing.com -- TD Cowen analysts view Sen. Dan Sullivan’s proposed missile defense legislation as a long-term catalyst for major U.S. defense contractors, with Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT), Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC), RTX, L3Harris, and Boeing (NYSE: BA) among the key beneficiaries.
The bill aims to expand homeland missile defense, including increasing Alaska-based interceptors from 60 to 80, adding AEGIS Ashore sites on the East Coast and Alaska, and allocating around $4 billion to boost production of Patriot and THAAD systems.
TD Cowen noted that “IDFA will require tens of $Bs to develop and field” and expects it to significantly expand existing programs.
The Missile Defense Agency has also issued a request for information and will host an industry event in Feb. Analysts expect a swift evaluation process, with initial funding likely included in the Department of Defense’s fiscal 2026 budget.
TD Cowen said the initiative could accelerate investment in both missile defense and space-based tracking systems, including the Space Development Agency’s Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture.
