Investing.com -- Groupon announced plans to open its platform to third-party developers and AI agents, according to a LinkedIn post from CEO Dušan Šenkypl on Tuesday.
The company will allow students, independent developers and community organizers to build products using Groupon deals and connect their own AI agents to the platform. Groupon already has integrations live in ChatGPT and Claude.
Šenkypl said builders will be able to create websites curating family activities or wellness deals, neighborhood clubs helping people discover nearby businesses, community projects using earned commissions to support charities, and agents helping users find experiences that fit their interests and budget.
The company will provide the deals and handle checkout, while builders contribute their ideas, audiences and understanding of community needs.
Groupon plans to make its AI Builder Pack available for public access in October. The move is part of the company's AI-first mission to create more ways for people and agents to use Groupon and help local businesses reach customers.
