Greer: "stakes are enormous" in Supreme Court's case on tariffs

Investing.com -- The U.S. Supreme Court is carefully considering a case challenging President Donald Trump's tariffs due to the significant implications involved, according to U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer.

Speaking to CNBC on Tuesday, Greer explained the court's measured approach to ruling on the case, noting that substantial revenue has been collected under the tariffs.

"We've built a new trade order on the back of these tariffs," Greer said. "So the stakes are enormous, and I think the court... is being very careful and considerate as to how they deal with this issue of extreme national interest."

When asked about the timing of the court's decision, Greer suggested that the plaintiffs challenging the tariffs do not have "an open and shut case," which may be contributing to the extended deliberation period
