Google unveils voice features for YouTube and Docs at developer event

Investing.com -- Alphabet Inc.'s Google announced on Tuesday that users will be able to ask questions on YouTube and create Google Docs using voice commands as part of its effort to integrate artificial intelligence across its products.

Chief Executive Officer Sundar Pichai spoke at the company's annual developer conference in Mountain View, California, stating that AI is affecting every part of the company. He described the current period as one of hyper progress driven by rapid technological advances.

Google has been restructuring its business to adapt to the AI era, targeting both consumer and corporate markets. Pichai said that changes made to incorporate more AI have led to increased usage of search. The Gemini app, Google's AI chatbot, has seen its usage more than double over the past year.

The company has managed to grow its search advertising revenue while transforming the product to include more chatbot-style features. This shift aims to compete with OpenAI and Anthropic PBC. Google plans to announce a series of new products as it works to maintain its competitive position.
