Investing.com -- General Motors (GM) has announced the immediate appointment of Mike Trevorrow as Senior Vice President of Global Manufacturing. Trevorrow, who previously served as Vice President of Global Manufacturing Engineering, will continue to oversee his former responsibilities in addition to his new role.
Trevorrow brings over four decades of experience in manufacturing operations and engineering to his new position. His extensive knowledge of the manufacturing process from beginning to end, combined with his proven leadership skills, make him a key asset for GM. As the head of global manufacturing and manufacturing engineering teams, Trevorrow will guide more than 95,000 team members across 110 sites in 11 countries on four continents. He will report directly to GM President Mark Reuss.
This strategic move aims to strengthen the connection between manufacturing and product development, emphasizing its importance in the overall customer experience. Trevorrow's appointment is expected to help GM integrate advanced manufacturing technologies more effectively, speeding up the transition to software-defined vehicles and supporting GM's wider innovation strategy.
GM President Mark Reuss expressed confidence in Trevorrow's abilities, stating, "Mike’s extensive experience in manufacturing operations and engineering, along with his steady leadership, make him the right choice to lead our global manufacturing organization into the future. His promotion means we will maintain a strong link between manufacturing engineering and product execution, encourage more collaboration among our teams, and increase the pace of advanced technology and innovation.”
Trevorrow's career with GM began in North American manufacturing, where he held various leadership roles before transitioning to a position in Japan. In 2013, he was promoted to the role of Executive Director, Global Body, in Manufacturing Engineering. He later served as Plant Executive Director of the Lansing Region and Vice President of Global Workplace Safety. In 2023, Trevorrow took on the role of Vice President of North American Manufacturing, and in early 2024, he stepped into the role of leading global manufacturing engineering.
