Embraer resolves engine issues on E2 jets, backlog tops $15bn

June 11, 2026 11:04 AM EDT

Investing.com -- Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer announced Thursday that its commercial aviation division holds a backlog exceeding $15 billion and has resolved major engine problems affecting its next-generation E2 aircraft.

The backlog figure represents a 50% increase from the same period last year, standing at $15 billion at the end of the first quarter. The company disclosed last week a firm order from lessor Azorra for 15 E195-E2 jets.

Embraer remains on track to meet its 2026 guidance of delivering between 80 and 85 commercial aircraft, according to Rodrigo Silva e Souza, the unit's marketing vice president.

The company expects no E2 aircraft will remain grounded due to engine issues by the end of 2026, Silva e Souza told reporters. The aircraft-on-ground rate for the E2 fleet currently sits at 1%, down from 22% in March 2025.

The E2 jets use engines manufactured by RTX's Pratt & Whitney division. Embraer said these engines are receiving improvements to enhance performance in hot and harsh operating conditions. Engine manufacturers have faced pressure from airlines over grounded aircraft and increased repair expenses.

Production slots remain available at Embraer before 2030, which the company views as an advantage over larger competitors Boeing and Airbus. The Brazilian planemaker specializes in jets with seating capacity up to approximately 150 passengers, operating below the market segment of Airbus' A320 and Boeing's 737 families.
