EU naval forces board oil tanker suspected of Russia ties
Investing.com -- European Union naval forces boarded the oil tanker MV SUN in the Mediterranean on August 30, according to EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas on Monday.
The vessel is suspected of being part of Russia's shadow fleet and sailing under a false flag in violation of international maritime law, Kallas said on X.
Operation EUNAVFOR MED Irini forces conducted the boarding for flag verification purposes. The EU naval mission was originally established in 2020 to enforce a United Nations arms embargo on Libya.
