EU Commission in talks with OpenAI and Anthropic on AI model access
Investing.com -- The European Commission is holding separate discussions with U.S. artificial intelligence companies OpenAI and Anthropic, with talks at different stages for each firm, a Commission spokesperson said Monday.
OpenAI has reached out to the Commission and offered to provide access to its new AI model, spokesperson Thomas Regnier said during a daily press briefing. The Commission welcomed the company's proactive engagement, with discussions ongoing on potential next steps.
The Commission has held four or five meetings with Anthropic, though talks have not yet progressed to discussions about access to its AI models, Regnier said.
"With one (OpenAI), you have a company proactively offering to give access to the company. With the other one (Anthropic), we have good exchanges though we're not at a stage where we can speculate on potential access or not," Regnier said.
