Duffy addresses telecom issues after Trump helicopter incident

Investing.com -- U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said Tuesday he is working to resolve telecom problems identified after a military helicopter carrying President Donald Trump came too close to a passenger jet departing Reagan Washington National Airport last week.

The incident raised questions about why the passenger airplane was cleared for departure while Marine One was in the vicinity, a period when commercial traffic is normally stopped.

After a January 2025 crash between a military helicopter and a commercial jet killed 67 people, the FAA prohibited mixed helicopter and jet traffic around the airport.
