Corteva rises on JPMorgan upgrade after spinoff

October 6, 2026 9:46 AM EDT

Corteva stock climbed 7.0% in morning trading on Tuesday following a JPMorgan upgrade from Neutral to Overweight with a $19.00 price target. The firm said shares were attractively valued after the October 1 spinoff of its seed business into Vylor Inc.

The upgrade represented one of the most significant analyst endorsements for the restructured crop protection company since the separation was completed.

Oppenheimer maintained its Outperform rating while adjusting its standalone price target to $17 from $95. The recalibration reflects the smaller post-spinoff business rather than a negative view. Analysts characterized shares as potentially oversold following the separation and saw a favorable risk/reward profile at current levels.

Corteva moved from the S&P 500 to the S&P MidCap 400 effective before today's open, requiring MidCap 400 index funds to add the stock to their portfolios and generating technically-driven buying pressure.

The company announced today that it will report third-quarter 2026 results on November 11.
