CoinShares stock jumps on $40M buyback program

Investing.com -- Coinshares PLC (NASDAQ: CSHR) shares rose 5.3% in premarket trading Tuesday following the company's announcement of a share repurchase program worth up to $40 million.

The digital asset manager said its Board of Directors approved the buyback program, which will be funded through the sale of cryptocurrency holdings from its corporate treasury. The program received shareholder authorization at the September 15, 2026 Extraordinary General Meeting and will remain in effect until the company's next Annual General Meeting, expected in the second quarter of 2027.

To fund the repurchases, CoinShares sold its entire corporate treasury holding of Ethereum, valued at $16.6 million, and 50% of its Solana holdings, worth $2.7 million, earlier this month. The company said it reallocated that capital toward share buybacks.

The Board stated that given current valuation levels, with the company's third quarter 2026 assets under management in line with fourth quarter 2025 levels, repurchasing shares represents a more attractive use of capital than retaining the corresponding digital asset holdings.

Repurchases will be conducted in the open market through independent brokers, in accordance with applicable law and the conditions of the SEC's Rule 10b-18 safe harbor. The company said the program may be effected through trading plans established under Rule 10b5-1.

The timing and amount of repurchases will depend on market conditions and other factors. The program does not require the company to repurchase any minimum amount and may be suspended or discontinued at any time.

CoinShares is a Jersey-headquartered asset manager specializing in digital assets, with offices in France, Sweden, Switzerland, the UK and the United States.
