Cognition partners with Amazon Web Services to deploy Devin

Investing.com -- Cognition and Amazon Web Services have signed a multi-year Strategic Collaboration Agreement to help companies deploy autonomous engineers in production environments. The partnership aims to assist customers in moving legacy workloads to AWS and addressing security and engineering backlogs.

Joint customers can purchase Devin through AWS Marketplace and use the Agent Toolkit for AWS directly in Devin. The companies are exploring deeper engineering integrations to make Devin easier to use within existing AWS environments. The collaboration includes Mercedes-Benz, Echo Global Logistics, and ActiveCampaign among its joint customers.

Devin is designed to understand codebases, plan approaches, write code, test work, and fix issues. Engineers decide what gets built and review the output while Devin handles execution tasks.

Through the collaboration, teams can use Devin to move legacy workloads to AWS, clear security and engineering backlogs within existing AWS environments, and free up capacity for strategic work. Cognition and AWS will work with customers on modernization projects where Devin analyzes existing systems, recreates system behavior, writes replacement code, and tests new systems.

Customers deploy Devin in a single-tenant environment on AWS and choose the region where it runs. Customer data and organizational knowledge remain inside a dedicated VPC. Each Devin session runs in its own virtual machine, created for the task and removed when the work is finished.

"Our customers want to modernize faster and put AI to work in production, and Devin running on AWS gives them a proven way to do it," said Anasuya Strasner, Director of North America ISVs at AWS.

Mercedes-Benz used Devin to analyze more than 200,000 lines of COBOL, reducing an estimated eight-month modernization project to eight days. Another global automaker used Devin to move a 25,000-line COBOL workflow from a mainframe to AWS Lambda at an estimated 73% lower cost.
