China arrests U.S. citizen on suspicion of espionage
Investing.com -- China's foreign ministry announced Friday that authorities detained U Min Zin, an American citizen, on suspicion of espionage and threatening national security.
Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian confirmed the arrest during a regular press briefing. He stated that Chinese officials informed the U.S. consulate general in Guangzhou about the detention.
The announcement came after Lin was asked about reports that Min Zin went missing in Kunming, a city in southwest China, last week.
